Do you ever wish that you could go back in time? Studies show that a career retrospective review from time to time is much more insightful.

From time to time, it’s important to look back in time and reflect. This week, for Black History Month, we bring you back to the year 2021, when I had the honor to sit down with SUNY Old Westbury’s Chair of Communications Dr. Wayne Edwards. We explored his deep roots as a music executive with CBS, Mercury and Arista Records (among the many others) where he worked with executive greats like L.A. Reid. Edwards was also notorious for signing the legendary MC Hammer and brought the hit U Can’t Touch This to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts. We also talked about his journey to academia and reflections on his days in the industry as a black male. His new book, Can’t Touch This is out everywhere. Get your copy today!
Quotes: “Energy is currency. When you “pay” attention to something/someone, you’re buying an experience – it’s an investment so “spend” carefully and only on things that will bring you a good return. Be selective. Treat your time with as much care as your finances. It’s equally as valuable."
